The Rapid Reticle 500SWHD scope is built tough to withstand the punishment the 500S&W magnum Revolver can dish out. The Rapid Reticle sighting system also allows the shooter to take those long pistol shots that would normally be passed up by hunters because they had to use "Kentucky Windage". The Rapid Reticle allows you to place the distance pin on the target, once you know the distance, then fire an accurate shot, from zero to 300 yards or meters, depending where you zero the gun to, and hit every shot, as long as you squeeze the trigger properly. All this without come-up clicks or windage adjustments. The Wind Pins will also help you be accurate while shooting in the wind; estimate the wind velocity and the direction it is coming from and place the correct wind pin. The end of the numbered pins is 10 mph and 5 mph at the inside pins. Sight the gun in using the center cross hair (100-yards or meters) then follow up with shots at 150-yards or meters to get maximum accuracy. Now you are ready to use all the distance pins without elevation corrections. *Note that the very best sight in can be accomplished by shooting at 300-yards or meters using the #300 pin. If you can steady the gun while hunting, you won't miss! Also VERY IMPORTANT to REMEMBER that the reticle is a 2nd focal plane reticle, this means that the calibration is set to work properly when the magnification is set on maximum power; 4X. Then you will be on at all distances in the reticle. If you lower the power the group will drop approximately 1" per power lowered. |
